6 Easy Steps to Score Free Nights at Hyatt Hotels

credit cards quick money wins travel hack Mar 19, 2024

Dreaming of luxurious stays at hotels around the world without breaking the bank? Look no further! In this guide, I unveil a straightforward strategy to earn free nights at Hyatt properties using credit card points, allowing you to indulge in the ultimate travel experience without the hefty price tag. With just six easy steps, you'll be well on your way to unlocking the doors to luxury accommodations and unforgettable adventures.

Step 1. Open A free World of Hyatt Rewards account Via Hyatt website

Step 2. Open a Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card ($95 annual Fee) (<referral link) or a Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card ($95 annual Fee). I have both of these cards. If I were only going to open one or choose one to start with, I’d pick the Chase Sapphire Preferred: it’s more versatile and has better overall travel benefits IMO.

  • You can also do this hack with the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($550 fee) and the Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Cards ($95 annual fee but higher spending requirement).
  • Disclaimer: I never pay interest on my credit cards because I pay off the balance in full each month. I DO NOT recommend opening a credit card if you're not quite confident in your spending habits and/or ability to pay it off each month. If you want help with this, email me at [email protected] or book a call with me and we'll chat about it.

Step 3. Earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points: If it’s feasible for you, hit the spending requirement to get the bonus (currently 60,000 points) for spending $4000 in the first three months. You’ll also earn additional points on that $4000 from spending categories, so it’s pretty easy to hit 70,000 Chase Ultimate points in 3 months with this card.

  • Disclaimer: I don’t recommend buying things you don’t need to hit the spending requirement. I like to sign up for a new credit card when I know I have a big purchase coming up that I can put on my card (i.e. my annual gym membership, a big housing expense, new tires, etc).
  • Disclaimer #2: ONLY do this if you have the money to pay for the purchases ON HAND. You should ideally not be going into Credit card debt or paying credit card interest EVER, let alone to get travel rewards.

Step 4. Find your Hyatt Hotel Stay: Search for Hyatt Hotels in the Hyatt App or website, making sure to select “Show World of Hyatt Points & Awards”. For example, the Grand Hyatt Kauai has rooms for over $1000/night - an instant hell no from me. By searching award travel, however, I see they have award nights for 35,000 points available. Be sure to look into any additional fees such as Parking Fees and Resort Fees, as those can sometimes be an unpleasant surprise if they apply.

Step 5. Transfer Points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt: Once you've decided you want to book a stay with points, you'll want to transfer your points from Chase to Hyatt.  Log into the Chase App or Website and click on Ultimate Rewards - this will show your rewards balance. From the Ultimate Rewards Section, Click “Ways to Use Points” then click “Transfer to travel partners” (usually towards the bottom of the page). Click Hyatt and transfer the points you need to cover your hotel stay. You will likely need to link your World of Hyatt member number if it’s the first time transferring. You can find that in the World of Hyatt App.

Step 6. Reserve your stay: Back in the Hyatt App, book your hotel using points. The points usually transfer instantaneously from Chase to Hyatt.

By following these six simple steps, you're now equipped with the knowledge to score free nights at Hyatt Hotels effortlessly. With a strategic approach to earning and redeeming rewards points, you can elevate your travel experiences without the financial burden. So, what are you waiting for? Start planning your next getaway and embark on a journey filled with relaxation, exploration, and unforgettable memories, all made possible by leveraging the power of rewards points. Happy travels!
